Immerse yourself in the creative world of video game programming and design with Scratch!

Scratch is a visual programming language designed to teach beginners coding concepts and logic.  In this course, students will design and code original mini-games as they reason systematically and work collaboratively.  We will explore game mechanics, design elements, and the importance of Open Source game development.

In the final session students will turn everyday objects into video game controllers.  Bringing their code into the physical world using the MaKey MaKey micro-controller.

Video Game Graphics

8 Wednesdays, beginning 15 February, 2017

4.00pm – 5.30pm
Ages 11-14

Create unique graphics for your video games!

Using Krita, a digital painting application, students will design 2D game assets, from backgrounds to characters, obstacles, and more.  Video game art from Atari to today will be critiqued and used as inspiration.  Students will leave the course with a developed storyline, sprite sheets, and backgrounds that can be used in their Scratch or Python-based games.
